I've been fishing for about 30 years, starting out on the Avon at Breamore and from there, all around the world, including Alaska, Seychelles, Bahamas and Mexico. Most of my fishing is on the Kennet, on the Wasing Estate, The Hants Avon around Somerly and Bisterne, plus an annual pilgrimage to the Wye. Best barbel? 9lbs 14oz, from the Avon. I'm not really a weights and measures man, because I think any barbel is a good barbel, but I do want to catch one of over ten pounds before I pop my clogs. Although I'm not a purist, I tend to use my old cane rods and pins more than carbon and fixed spool. The reason is that I just happen to like the look and feel of them. Cheers Joe
